Born in New York City in 1848, Edwin Howland Blashfield became an artist who specialized in mural painting and advocated for public art. Charles Edwin Wilbour (1833-1896) was one of the first American Egyptologists. From 1880 to 1896, he traveled extensively in Egypt and documented numerous ancient sites.
