Account book, 1812-1827.

Records debits and credits accrued by Bentley from 1812 to 1827. He made and repaired a variety of furniture forms, including clock cases, chests, trundle beds, tea tables, table leaves, dining tables, kitchen tables, pine leaf tables, bureaus, desks, bookcases, and coffins. A sketch of a base and capitol with measurements for a desk is laid in. Bentley also mended wagons and sleds, did some sawing, and drew bricks. The volume features references to cherry boards, clapboard, shingles, and other types of wood; saws, files, and other tools; screws and related hardware; and bushels of farm produce. Recipes for staining wood in red, purple, black, and several shades of mahogany are present.
