Bills and receipts, 1876-1889.

Consists of over 400 receipted bills for the purchase of household and personal items by R. L. Barstow and other Barstow family members between 1876 and 1889. The firms represented were located primarily in Boston, Ma. and vicinity, although some items were purchased in London, England in 1880 and Paris, France in 1881. The majority of the bills are printed, most have illustrated billheads that depict a wide range of products as well as buildings. The categories represented include: building trades, ceramic and glassware, metal working trades, horse and carriage trades, ships and sails, trunks, carting, woodworking trades, artists, musical instruments, gardening, clothing trade, dry-goods, printers and engravers, toys, cigars and spirits, druggists, groceries, current accounts with Upham's Corner, hotels, booksellers, scientific apparatus, and miscellaneous items.
