John Stuart McKenzie papers, 1948-1996.

The collection consists of the papers of John Stuart McKenzie from 1948-1996. The papers include sketches, newspaper columns, writings, awards, and photographs. Original editorial cartoon sketches concern topics such as postwar housing, the Ku Klux Klan, Herman Talmadge, M.E. Thompson, the Columbians (a post-World War II hate group), Atlanta highway construction, the Atlanta Community Chest, and Stone Mountain. The collection also contains Christmas cards designed by McKenzie, columns written for the Emory Wheel while he was a student and copies of columns written for The Georgia Printer, drawings for The Southern Coach and Athlete, and calligraphy samples.

John Stuart McKenzie (1922-2005) was a graphic designer and editorial cartoonist from Atlanta, Georgia. A native of Canada, he served as a Royal Canadian Air Force bomber in World War II. McKenzie graduated from Emory University in 1948 and was on the staff of the Emory Wheel.
