Letter, 1847 Nov. 26, Milan.

Letter addressed to an unnamed "Egregio Sig. Cavaliero" by the sculptor Pompeo Marchesi, who feels "onorato di poter scolpire in marmo l'effigie della S.V." The sculptor mentions that he is working from a previously made portrait by the painter Gallina, and so he would need just a brief sitting when the Cavaliere comes to Milan. Meantime it will be very helpful if his patron permits Elisa Benato and her husband Luigi [Beltrami] to sketch him in profile and three-quarter views.
