This series consists mainly of incoming correspondence directed Brigadier General Isaac Vanderpoel, Engineer in Chief. Judging from the content of some of the correspondence, Vanderpoel, in addition to his duties as Engineer in Chief, was also the Acting Assistant Adjutant-General in 1864.
