Letters to René Delhumeau, ca. 1912-ca. 1930 (bulk ca. 1929-ca. 1930).

Almost all these letters are addressed to René Delhumeau, who was to become the most important collector of Robert Delaunay's work. While Robert Delaunay's letters are all undated, we can presume from both the context and the addressee (he met Delhumeau in February 1929) that they date from 1929 and continue into the early 1930s. This correspondence chronicles an extremely productive period in the lives of both Robert and Sonia Delaunay; at one point, Sonia tells Delhumeau that she writes instead of her husband because he is so completely immersed in his painting.
