Papers related to Discontinuité, 1927-1929.

The collection comprises letters, manuscripts and printed materials related to the group of writers and artists who created the surrealist journal Discontinuité. The letters are addressed by Claude Sernet to André Breton, Benjamin Fondane and his sister Line Pascal, Ar[thur] Adamov, Jean Carrive, Monny de Boully, and Georges Neveux between May 1927 and Oct. 1928. Most of the manuscripts were published in the first and sole issue of Discontinuité (proofs included). Two others were printed separately: the poem "Er l'Arménien" by Monny de Boully, and a partial text by Adamov in the volume "Mises au point." Also included is an album with press clippings about "Discontinuité," and the program of the surrealist shows offered by the group in Paris, at Studio des Ursulines, in 1928.
