This microfilm collection of the papers of African American painter Edward L. Loper consists of biographical information; correspondence, 1974-1987; writings; photographs; and printed material. The writings include typescripts of lectures and articles written by one of Loper's students, which discuss Loper's early life, his teaching methods, and his work for the <emph render="italic">Index of Amerian Design</emph> and the Barnes Foundation.
