Lucy J. Chamberlain diaries, 1915-1922.

The Lucy Jefferies Chamberlain Diaries document three different periods in her life. The first two cover the periods March 1915 to July 1916 and August 1916 to February 1918. The third one is an account of her first experience as a lone worker in a rural community, written while she served as executive secretary of the Lafayette County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Darlington, Wisconsin.

Lucy Jefferies Chamberlain was born on July 12, 1893. She attended the New York School of Social Work from 1921 to 1923, Columbia University's School of Journalism from 1925 to 1926 and received her B.S. (1927), A.M. (1930) and Ph.D. (1932) from New York University.
