Records, 1904-1973.

A substantial collection of records gathered from various sources, including an almost complete series of official minute books, financial accounts, ephemeral printed records (rules, programmes, menu cards, membership tickets, etc.), and other miscellaneous papers and correspondence. The minute books contain summaries of numerous scientific papers and talks given to the Club, increasingly after about 1920 by very distinguished chemists and physicists, and also accounts of the discussions following the talks. Examples of the guest lecturers at these meetings are F. W. Aston, J. D. Bernal, Sir W. L. Bragg, Sir J. D. Cockcroft, H. M. F. Freundlich, Dorothy Hodgkin, Sir F. Gowland Hopkins, Sir J. H. Jeans, Kathleen Lonsdale, F. A. Paneth, Sir William Pope, E. K. Rideal, Lord Rutherford, H. S. Taylor, and Sir H. W. Thompson.
