Correspondence with Jan Tschichold, 1941-1946.

Two letters sent to Jan Tschichold from Ladislav Sutnar and 2 letters from Tschichold to Sutnar dated from 1945 to 1946. In these letters Tschichold informs Sutnar that he was able to produce some work during the War years; thanks Sutnar for including their collaborative works on posters in the Museum of Modern Art exhibition, "15th anniversary of the museum's activities;" states that he is currently writing, designing and publishing books rather than posters; and tells of the whereabouts of friends and artists since the end of World War II. Sutnar's letters thank Tschichold for sending him examples of his books. Includes address label from Tschichold to Sutnar for package which contained a book. Also letter addressed to Mr. Director, possibly intended for Sutnar, from Dr. Jaroslav Joseph Polivka, consulting engineer, dated 1941. This letter primarily describes New York City, its wealth, significant buildings (especially Radio City Music Hall), renowned people such as Edith Wharton, the Vanderbilts, Fricks and Carnegies, and the area around Central Park.
