A daily journal covering the last ten years of Ruben Peale's life. Much of it concerns farm and family activities, but there are also many references to his still-life painting. Entries from April 1865 describe the news of Abraham Lincoln's assassination and funeral procession.

WorldCat record id: 83213749 Rubens Peale managed his father Charles Willson Peale's museum in Philadelphia from 1810 to 1822 and later directed museums in Baltimore, New York City, and Utica.
