Household accounts, 1669-1689, Chester, England.

The collection contains household receipts, bills and other records of the domestic affairs of Sir George Jeffreys, with a detailed genealogy of the Jeffrey family. A large portion of the collection dates from 1676, when Jeffreys was either building or repairing a house in Buckinghamshire, and includes bills for bricklaying, carpentry, joinery, and glaziery, for his house and for improvements to chambers in Inner Temple, Inns of Court, London. Other bills pertain to various family expenses such as saddlery and harnesses, shoes for the entire family, groceries, meat, articles of clothing, tithes, taxes, board for the children, a maid and burial expenses for a son.
