Letters received, 1918-1949.

Collection consists of letters to the Paris collector Dr. Alexandre Roudinesco from various Fauve painters. Most date from the 1930s and represent an unusually intimate and informative relationship between artist and patron. Letters include thirty from Maurice de Vlaminck, 1932-1949; twenty-eight from Raoul Dufy, 1918-1936; eight from Paul Signac, 1926-1934; six from Kees van Dongen, 1930; and two from Georges Rouault.
