Contains correspondence, research notes, memoranda, lecture notes, and laboratory manuals recording Richardson's research and professional activities as a neurologist/neuropathologist and academic physician at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. Richardson's student notes describe subjects in the sciences and humanities, and are accompanied by intricate illustrations. Notes and graduation certificates chronicle both his Army officer's training and postgraduate studies in London, and his shifting focus from neuropsychiatry to neuropathology. HMS lecture notes from 1945 to 1957 document classes conducted by Richardson, C.S. Kubik, and others; correspondence, memoranda, annotated laboratory manuals, tutor guides, and student guides record specific course and laboratory programs he taught during the mid 1970s through the early 1990s. Research notes, correspondence, highlighted reprints, drafts, and illustrated case notes illuminate his investigation of subjects including brain death, Huntington's Disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. A series of appointment books describe Richardson's active retirement, which included professional instruction, research, and lectures.
