Eliza Fairbanks Hooper of Franklin, Massachusetts, studied at the Bradford (Massachusetts) Academy, and taught school in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. In 1827, she joined a group of missionaries to the Choctaw Nation at mission stations in Elliot and Mayhew, Mississippi, which were sponsored by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.
