Travel journals (ca. 1802) of the architect Robert Mills (1781-1855), detailing the architecture, attractions, and people during trips from the District of Columbia to New England and from Wilmington, Del., to Charleston, S.C. Includes descriptions of Annapolis, Baltimore, Wilmington, Philadelphia (including visit to Peale's Museum to see the mastodon), Albany, New Haven, Boston, and Portland. Also included is a draft history (ca. 1832) of the U.S. Capitol, including a description of the building and its improvements; and poetry and writings of Mills's wife, Eliza B. Mills, as well as writings of unattributed authors.
