Correspondence of Hamlin and Washburn concerning the politics and government of the United States, United Kingdom, and Turkey. Letters discuss in detail Robert College in Constantinople, including the idea to start a science school in Turkey, a business plan and outline, fund-raising for the college, and donations to the school. Also discussed is personal finance, daily life in Turkey, trips to Boston, and religion. He was founder and president of Robert College, Constantinople (1860-1877).
