Transcript of an interview conducted by Gary Dewey on 20 July 1985 for the Ray Hillam war project. Butler was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Butler was drafted in the United States Army and fought in France during World War II. He told about his experiences in combat. He was in fox holes most of the time, was under fire from mortars, and was wounded in battle. He thought the United States' involvement in the war was justified.
