Abraham Walkowitz papers, 1904-1966.

Correspondence; photographs; a typescript; and printed material. Correspondence with George C. Ault, George Biddle, Katherine S. Dreier, Karl Knaths, Benjamin D. Kopman, Louis Lozowick, Gus Mager, Henry Miller, Kenneth H. Miller, Ivan Olinsky, Walter Pach, John Sloan, Eugene Speicher, Albert Sterner, Alfred Stieglitz, and Max Weber; photographs, mostly of Walkowitz, 2 showing him with Stefano Cusumano and Moses Soyer; 1 group photo of Walkowitz, Maurice Sterne, Ernest Roth, Lee Woodward Zeigler, Frederick Starr, Maurice Braun, Gaston Busch, Edgar Ward, William Oberhardt, Samuel Weis, and Ivan Olinsky, 2 photos of Moses Soyer, and 1 of works by Ivan Olinsky and Maurice Sterne; catalogs; articles and clippings. Two pamphlets, 1947 and 1948, BARNS AND COAL MINES AROUND GIRARD, KANSAS, and IMPROVISATIONS OF NEW YORK, A SYMPHONY IN LINES, both are autographed and contain reproductions of works of art by Walkowitz. Ca. 200 photographs of Walkowitz, 1904-1957, and undated, some with his friends and his works of art. Among the photographers are Arnold Genthe, Lotte Jacobi, Arnold Newman, Alfredo Valente, Carl Van Vechten, and Clarence White. Also included are 12 negatives; 6 letters, 1957-1959; a typescript of a poem written for Walkowitz by Hirsh Margules, 1959; an exhibition catalog; several clippings; and the book, One Hundred Drawings, (1925), written and inscribed by Walkowitz. Twelve photos of Walkowitz and two photographs of artists and others at Mt. Kisco, all of which were previously microfilmed under Photos of Artists I and have since been scanned and returned to the Walkowitz papers. Printed material, including exhibition announcements and brochures (1949-66); exhibition catalogs (1923-60); clippings (1918-66); and issues of Camera Work (1913), a Yiddish magazine, The New Renaissance (1921), and other art periodicals.
