Inpatient commitment registers, 1886-1926.

Currently under the supervision of the Dept. of Mental Health, Westborough State Hospital and its predecessors have been responsible for providing residential care and treatment to mentally ill persons in Massachusetts since 1886--prior to 1939 specializing in homeopathic medicine and since then serving more generally the area south and west of Boston. Inpatient commitment registers were created to record patient information at commitment and to serve as a source of information on patients for annual admissions statistics.
