Correspondence is addressed almost exclusively to his brother and to his friend Cristiano Banti. Subjects include Consani's critically lauded statue of Pope Leo XIII; practical advice from his teacher, Luigi Pampaloni; his travels around southern Italy, including visits to Greek and Roman historical monuments such as the tombs of Archimedes and Diomedes at Siracusa; the peace of mind and spiritual rejuvenation achieved through prayer and meditation; and the restorative effects of his sojourn at the therapeutic baths at Lucca. Also included are invitations to gatherings with friends and family and expression of sorrow over the death of Count Augusto Marinotti (1885)
