The document records the sale of the right to collect certain taxes to Don Diego Capata (Zapata), Conde de Barajas, "Mayordomo, Comendador de la Encomiendo de Monte Alegre de la horden de Santiago." Taxes and duties are listed in great detail, and are followed by an equally detailed list of the monasteries and private individuals to whom part of the proceeds were to be paid; a large sum was also to be paid to the Royal treasury. The sale was originally granted by Philip III on December 24, 1610, and is here confirmed by Philip IV on February 20, 1646.
