Eight letters written by Vuillard to various correspondents, with three letters addressed to painter and writer August Bréal (1927-1929). In these letters Vuillard requests books on Bonnard and Degas, comments on his own efforts at portraiture, and mentions his social engagements, including a lunch with Pierre Bonnard. One letter is to Alexandre Natanson, the co-founder and editor of La revue blanche, to whom Vuillard reports on work in progress on the nine panels commissioned by Natanson (1894). Other letters mention a visit from Vuillard's brother-in-law, the artist Ker-Xavier Roussel (1909), and discuss Vuillard's commission for the new Théatre de Chaillot at the Exposition Internationale (1937).
