Of particular interest is one letter addressed to the critic Gustave Kahn concerning a scheme to interest art patrons in decorative painting (n.d.), and a letter to Thadee Natanson commenting on a recent article in "Cri de Paris" (n.d.). Painter of portraits and genre scenes, also an esteemed designer and book illustrator born in Geneva. He was a disciple of his father, Pierre-Alexandre, the director of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Dijon.
