Letters, 1846-1873.

Letters are addressed to several correspondents including Eugene Lavieille (n.d.), Faure (1862), Richomme (1860), Charles de Javary (1858), the dealer Adolphe Beugniet (n.d.), Camille Marcille (1846-1852) and Mme. Batta (n.d.). The letters contain some reference to patrons including Count Demidoff, Lacaze and Deville, and often mention specific paintings and prices. Corot discusses travel plans and atelier visits and recommends the painters Armand Leleux and Wahash. In one letter, to a Mr. Frederick, Corot encourages his correspondent to work from nature and to search for the "effet." Engraved portrait included in collection. In chronological order.
