John Smith (1781-1855) was a London framer, picture dealer and author of A Catalogue raisonneĢ of the works of the most eminent Dutch, Flemish, and French painters, 1829-1842. His sons, Samuel Mountjoy Smith (fl. 1828-1857) and John M. Smith assisted in their father's business. Samuel Theobald Smith, the grandson of John Smith and also in the business, died in 1904.
