Letter sent, 1849 March 24.

Triqueti writes a female friend from Pau, where his family took refuge during the revolution of 1848. He complains about the calamities of the political upheaval and the lack of work opportunities, adding in conclusion that those who fled to England were wiser and happier in a country where the newspapers speak about art, the artists produce it, and the Lords purchase it.
