The papers consist of a volume of letters and papers concerning causes in the Court of Requests from 1580-1604. Also included are the Proceedings in the High Commissioners Court for 1611. The papers are Lansdowne MS 161 in the British Museum.

Sir Julius Caesar was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1580 and received his doctor of laws degree from Oxford in 1584. In the same year he became judge of the admiralty court and master of the chancery. In 1591 Elizabeth I conferred upon Caesar the post of master of requests.
