Begins with a note of his birth, his admission to the Middle Temple (1637) and call to the bar (1640), and ends with a description of his creation as a serjeant at law and installation as chief baron of the Exchequer (1671). In his first year he notes his income though this dwindled to nothing in 1643 due to the war. Also included are a few memoranda.
