Dr. Pauline Gracia Beery Mack was born 19 December 1891, in Norborne, Missouri. In 1913 she earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri and chaired science departments in three Missouri high schools before attending Columbia University where she received a master's degree in 1919.
