Breed-Mumford family papers, 1698-1966.

Consists mainly of letters, deeds, and general legal and financial papers relating to Gershom and John Breed of Norwich, Conn., and Thomas Mumford of Groton, Conn. They engaged in shipping, storekeeping, and investment ventures in Norwich, St. Eustatius, and Rio Essequibo, British Guiana. The records of the Susquehannah Company (1753-1803), a group of proprietors who bought land in Wyoming Valley, Pa., deal with those land purchases and consist of letters and legal papers mostly to and from the Breeds of Norwich, Conn.
