On the ports and customs, ca. 1740.

In two volumes, the first volume contains a 'treatise of ports and port duties and of customs by the Lord Chief Baron Hale', so titled in the hand of Thomas Parker, who adds, "This valuable work was carefully collated by my brother Wright and myselfe with several records in the Tower and other originals referred to in several parts of it and may be depended upon as authentick. T.P." The mention of Sir Martin Wright as his brother fixes the date of this note as 1739-1740 but the manuscript itself is somewhat earlier. The second volume continues the first but with "The nature of English conquests considered with respect to Gibralter, etc.' This includes 'If the king of England by the aid of his people subdue a foreign country....'

2 v. ; 28 and 24 cm.
