Manuscripts, 1903-1943.

Material covers Jones's career from 1903 until his retirement from the Woodwardian Chair in the University of Cambridge in 1943. Included are student notes, university lecture courses, occasional lectures and addresses and a large body of papers connected with his research work, including notes and material relating to the greater part of his published research during this period. Among these, of particular value are the notes on the mines of North Cardiganshire and West Montgomeryshire which to a considerable degree supplement the Memoir published for the Geological Survey. The donation also includes some correspondence concerning professional matters and a small quantity of photographs, slides, and miscellaneous material. In addition there are three portfolios of plans, sections and charts connected with the manuscripts and a small group of letters to him from the Geological Survey, 1939-1943, with one copy reply.
