Autobiography, ca. 1885.

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript. The item is an autobiography of Ann Prior Jarvis. Ann was born in England and joined the Mormon Church in 1848. Ann writes about an experience in which her daughter lived when she was expected to die. The doctor "came in the parlour as usual and he spoke very low and said: 'She is gone,' then I said, 'Yes sir, she is gone--into the kitchen.' He went with me into the kitchen. I know the change was so great he was frightened." She migrated to Boston, to Florence, Nebraska, and then to Utah. She arrived in Utah probably in 1860 and went to St. George, Utah, in 1861. She writes about her activities in the Mormon Church, her opinion of polygamy, and her spiritual experiences.
