Business papers of textile industry merchant and investor Amos Adams Lawrence, 1803-87, includes correspondence, receipts, accounts, and financial statements for his textile investment firm of Mason and Lawrence. Also includes correspondence and other papers regarding the acquisition of land for Lawrence College located in Appleton, Wisc. and Ipswich Mills in Ipswich, Mass. There are a number of letters sent to Lawrence from family members during the last few years of his life discussing family news and activities. Family correspondents include Lawrence Brooks, Amory Appleton Lawrence, Hetty Sullivan Lawrence Cunningham, Robert Means Lawrence, and fellow Harvard classmate Henry Gassett.
