William Yarrell, an eminent British naturalist, was for many years a vice-president of the Zoological Society. He was also a Fellow of the Linnaean Society, and between 1825 and 1856 he contributed 81 papers to scientific societies and journals. He was the author of A HISTORY OF BRITISH FISHES and A HISTORY OF BRITISH BIRDS.
