Leonard Stein collection of musical scores, 1954-1969.

Original and copies (photostat, photograph, typescript, printed ephemera) of graphic and text scores gathered by Leonard Stein for his performances. Composers represented include Earle Brown, Sylvano Bussotti, Larry Austin, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Cornelius Cardew, Robert Ashley and La Monte Young. Some scores contain Stein's annotations for performance. Includes Stein's realization for Earle Brown's "4 Systems for David Tudor on a birthday Jan. 20, 1954," excerpts of John Cage scores, and class materials from Karlheinz Stockhausen's 1959 Darmstadt lectures.
