Thirteen ALS written by R. J. Woolsey while living in San Francisco, California, to his father, possibly David W. Woolsey, and mother. Letters concern his impressions of California and San Francisco; Woolsey also refers to family news received from his parents, and he briefly discusses his work as a shipyard laborer, sailor, and gold miner. The letters are accompanied by typed transcripts.
