Robert Habersham diary and poem, 1831-1832.

This collection consists of Robert Habersham's personal journal and a poem which was written three months before his death according to a note at the end of it. The Journal is marked Vol. II. It begins while he was still in Cambridge and contains social notes, poetry, and a few references to classes and to his graduation on July 19, 1831. This is followed by a visit to his family in Newport, Rhode Island and travels in New York state. The remainder was written in Savannah - social life, weather notes, poetry, names of persons to whom he wrote letters and lists of books read. Of special interest is his account of the duel between Dr. Philip Minis and James Jones Stark, August 10, 1832.
