The project explored the usefulness of historical materials for fostering public understanding of physics. The project director was Charles Weiner followed by Joan N. Warnow; historian Lillian Hoddeson played a major role. This oral history project was undertaken by the Center for History of Physics of the American Institute of Physics, beginning in about 1976.
