Oral history interview with Mabel Barry, 1992 October 6.

=aMabel Barry worked as an attorney in the office of the secretary, treasurer, general counsel (later the office of the secretary-general counsel) at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., from 1943 until her retirement in 1973. Barry recalled her background, her arrival in Washington and the circumstances in which she attended law school. She described her legal work for the National Gallery and the development of the law library. She reflected on working for Huntington Cairns and remembered Richard Bales, Macgill James, Thelma Thomas and other National Gallery staff members.
