[Design variations for the bridge in Grisons, Switzerland]. 1982-1988.

Two signed drawings on vellum are variations of designs for the Ganter bridge by Calatrava's teacher, Christian Menn, in Grisons, completed in 1982. The first drawing, in pencil, is a perspective view from below of a Ganter-type bridge pier. On the same sheet are two smaller views of trussed-bridge piers from front (one in elevation) as well as six small detail sketches (one a perspective of a bridge pier cross-section and five cross secitons). The second drawing, in ink, is a perspective view from below of a Ganter-type bridge with a background mountain scene done in pencil. A third drawing is a sketch in blue ink on paper showing: a plan of Seville, a perspective with elevation of bridges and viaduct, two cross-section sketches of pylon variants with cable stays, and a cross-section of double viaduct with measurements. This drawing was done on a restaurant placemat as an explanation of a project Calatrava was working on.

3 drawings : pencil and ink on vellum and paper ; 46 x 60 cm. or smaller.
