Dating from the Second Empire, the letters concern personal friendships as well as portrait sittings and contain significant mention of the imperial family. Correspondents include, among others, the baron and baroness de Serlay, Chalons d'Arge, sculptor Luigi Vimercati, Alfred Junot, Ferdinand Herold, Jacobo Luis, painter Emile Lassalle, Charles Nisard, and Amedee Larrieu.
