Letters and documents sent to Ugo Ojetti and family, 1912-1926.

A collection of 37 letters and manuscripts by the French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle to the Italian critic Ugo Ojetti. The letters contain detailed accounts regarding his work such as "Heracles the Archer", "Penelope", "Bacchante", "The Virgin of the Offering", and especially his reliefs for the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, with commentary on the frieze designs and the progress of the sculptural figures. Also included are 20 letters from Mme. Bourdelle and other members of the Bourdelle family to the Ojettis and supplementary documents including: an annotated article by Bourdelle on the Baroque sculptor Puget, an annotated plan of the French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale of 1914 showing the placement of his work, and a list of sculptures.
