In a series of letters (1918 May 20-Nov. 26) written to his dealer, Léonce Rosenberg, Gris writes about the Cubist movement, the sale of his paintings, and works in progress, at one point discussing a colored pencil portrait of Mme. Jacques Lipchitz he has just completed. In a letter to the editor (?) of the journal Living Art (1924 Aug. 29), Gris declines an invitation to contribute art criticism to the journal, claiming that he is unqualified and suggesting his friend Maurice Raynal.
