Correspondence and notes relating to Crosby's interest in the frigate Constellation, logbook (1799-1800) from the frigate, manuscript of an unpublished article by Crosby entitled Constellation and L'Insurgente, and map of the West Indies with a diagram of the battle of the U.S.F. The English poet, playwright and novelist John Masefield was born in 1878 in Ledbury. After running away to sea early (when he was thirteen) he settled in London from 1897 and devoted himself to writing.
