Maurice Henry Hewlett was an English novelist and poet. He was born in Surrey and entered the family law practice in 1878, later called to the bar by the Inner Temple in 1890. He gave up law to concentrate on writing after the success of his first novel, The forest lovers, in 1898. This was followed by other novels and later poems and essays.
