Bounty payment register, 1865-1867.

This series records bounty payments disbursed by the Paymaster General's Office between 1865 and 1867. Each entry provides the following information: date of payment, name, regiment, and amount. Chapter 29 of the Laws of 1865 authorized these payments, and the regulations and procedures governing their distribution were set forth in General Order No. 6 issued by the Adjutant-General's Office on March 1, 1865.

Chapter 184 of the Laws of 1863 and Chapter 29 of the Laws of 1865 authorized the payment of bounty monies by the state. This register was most likely compiled by the Paymaster General's Office on February 28, 1865 directed this office to supervise the payment of bounty claims.
